The Mist In The Valley
Dec 2000
The mists layer over the rising
The bluffs surrounds the valley
The dampened ground grows wild
The moisture soaks the earths's epidermis
The drizzle of the sky fills the air
The clouds surrounds the rocks
Pushing wetness upon the parched earth
The cracked earth is silent with thirst
The brown earth swallows the mist
The desiccated chips of clay turn dark
The stones and boulders stand taller
Licking at the moistened air
The whisper of the dust escapes
Rising slowly like a fog of ashes
The dry gritty grime swells in the slight winds
Breathing the dampness in the oxygen
The craggy ground grows darker with craving
Wanting more of the water rained upon it
The wetness soaks into the soil
Filling little of the parchment it feels
And the valley exists on deprivation.
